Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan Elected as Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly
In the recent elections for the position of Speaker, Thiruvanchoor of the ruling party secured 101 votes, successfully defeating his opponents. A.C. Moideen from the Opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) received 35 votes, while B.B. Gopakumar of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) garnered 3 votes.
Following the election, the Speaker officially declared Pinarayi Vijayan as the Leader of the Opposition. Pinarayi Vijayan has been a prominent figure in Kerala politics and serves as the Chief Minister of the state, having held the position since May 2016.
