“Top Technical Institutes Experience 33% Faculty Vacancy Rate, According to RTI Data”
The Ministry of Education has announced ongoing recruitment efforts across Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) in India. However, recent data obtained through Right to Information (RTI) requests indicates that 35.2% of faculty and staff positions at these institutes remain unfilled.
This vacancy rate highlights potential challenges in staffing and resource allocation within the CFTIs, which play a critical role in providing technical education and training in the country. Various factors, such as budget constraints, the competitive nature of hiring qualified candidates, and possible bureaucratic delays, may contribute to the high number of unfilled positions.
In response to these findings, stakeholders in the education sector are calling for a review of recruitment processes and policies to enhance hiring efficiency and ensure that the institutes can meet the educational needs of students effectively. The Ministry has yet to address specific strategies to mitigate these vacancies.
