In February and March, Saman Athaudahetti undertook an ambitious journey across India, covering approximately 13,000 kilometers over a span of 40 days. The adventure involved traveling on 24 different trains, allowing him to experience the diverse landscapes and cultures of the country.
Athaudahettis journey highlights India’s extensive railway network, which is one of the largest in the world, consisting of over 67,000 kilometers of track and connecting more than 7,300 stations. The railway system not only serves as a vital means of transportation but also plays a significant role in the social and economic fabric of the nation, facilitating the movement of millions of passengers daily.
Through this journey, Athaudahetti sought to understand the rich heritage and varied regional identities that define India, all while emphasizing the experiences of travel through one of the most populous and culturally diverse countries in the world.
