Transport Minister Announces Upcoming Free Travel for Women in A.P. on AC Buses

The government has developed an extensive action plan aimed at positioning the year 2026-27 as a pivotal milestone for advancements in technology, sustainability initiatives, and the enhancement of public services within the transport sector. Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, the Special Chief Secretary, emphasized that this strategic plan is designed to not only modernize transport services but also to address environmental concerns and improve efficiency.

In light of concerns surrounding potential privatization within the sector, Reddy reaffirmed the governments commitment to public ownership. He sought to reassure employees and labor unions by clarifying that privatization is not on the agenda, aiming to alleviate anxieties about job security and the future of public transport services.

The action plan includes investments in innovative technologies, such as electric vehicles and smart transport systems, along with initiatives to promote sustainability like improved infrastructure for non-motorized transport. The government aims to collaborate with stakeholders across the sector to ensure that the proposed changes benefit both citizens and employees in public transport.
