Trinamool Bank Accounts Frozen Following Complaints from Party Dissenters

Aroop Biswas, the former treasurer of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), along with ten rebel Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) who have aligned themselves with Ritabrata Banerjee, has formally requested that the banking institutions and law enforcement authorities prohibit any transactions in the partys three accounts. These accounts reportedly contain approximately ₹440 crore.

This development follows escalating tensions within the TMC, as the rebel MLAs and Biswas express their discontent with the current party leadership. The request to freeze the accounts aims to curtail any financial activities, signaling a significant rift in the party as it approaches essential political engagements.

It is important to note that the funds involved are substantial and could impact the party’s operational capabilities going forward. The TMC, which has been a dominant political force in West Bengal, is expected to respond to these actions and the implications they may have on its strategic and financial planning. As this situation unfolds, continued monitoring of the partys internal dynamics and public reactions will be essential.
