Unified Shakti Smart Card to Facilitate Seamless Travel for Women on BMTC Buses and Namma Metro

Officials have announced the development of a new card that will be based on the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) platform. This initiative aims to streamline access to multiple public transport systems across the country by enabling commuters to use a single smart card for their travel needs.

The NCMC is designed to promote seamless interconnectivity among various modes of public transport, including buses, metro systems, and other transit services. This approach not only enhances convenience for travelers but also supports the government’s broader goals of improving urban mobility and reducing congestion in cities.

The implementation of the new card is expected to include features such as contactless transactions, real-time updates on fare structures, and integration with digital payment systems. As part of this initiative, authorities are also exploring partnerships with different transport agencies to ensure widespread adoption and functionality of the smart card across diverse regions.

Further details regarding the rollout schedule, pricing, and additional capabilities of the card will be shared by government officials as the project progresses.
