Uttam Praises Success of Paddy Procurement Amidst Allegations of Central Government Non-Cooperation

The Indian government has disbursed ₹11,500 crore (approximately $1.4 billion) to support 9.31 lakh (931,000) farmers as part of its ongoing agricultural assistance program. This initiative aims to enhance the income of farmers and ensure financial stability within the agricultural sector.

The disbursement is part of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, which provides direct income support to farmers across the country. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 annually in three installments, enabling them to invest in agricultural inputs and manage their household expenses.

Since its launch in February 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme has benefited millions of farmers. The recent payment aims to further bolster the livelihoods of farmers, especially in light of challenges posed by fluctuating market prices, natural calamities, and increased production costs.

The government continues to seek ways to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability, alongside enhancing the welfare of farmers through direct financial assistance and various developmental programs.
