West Bengal Becomes Part of Ayushman Bharat Scheme
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda announced that the portability feature of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) is set to significantly benefit migrant workers, especially those from West Bengal, along with their families. This feature enables beneficiaries who are employed or living in different states to access cashless treatment at affiliated hospitals throughout the country.
The PM-JAY scheme, which aims to provide health insurance coverage to economically disadvantaged populations, ensures that beneficiaries can receive necessary medical services without financial barriers. The portability aspect allows for greater flexibility and accessibility, as it addresses the challenges that workers face when they move outside their home states for employment.
As migrant labor continues to play a crucial role in various economic sectors across India, this development may enhance healthcare access for numerous individuals who previously faced difficulties in availing medical services away from their home state. The initiative reflects the governments commitment to improving health infrastructure and support for vulnerable populations across the nation.
