West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari Initiates Cervical Cancer Vaccination Campaign for Over 750,000 Girls Aged 14

As part of a public health initiative, health authorities have announced that girls who have reached the age of 14 but have not yet turned 15 will be eligible to receive a free single dose of the quadrivalent Gardasil-4 vaccine. This vaccine is designed to protect against four strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is associated with various cancers, including cervical cancer.

The decision to provide the vaccine at no cost aims to enhance vaccination coverage among adolescents, ultimately reducing the incidence of HPV-related diseases. The Gardasil-4 vaccine has been shown to significantly decrease the risk of HPV infection and related health complications.

Health experts encourage parents to take advantage of this initiative to help protect their daughters health, particularly as early vaccination can lead to better long-term outcomes. Clinics and health centers will be providing the vaccine throughout the campaign period, making it accessible to eligible individuals.
