The Writers Buildings, located in Kolkata, West Bengal, have long served as the administrative headquarters for the state government, housing various offices and departments. With an increase in foot traffic from employees returning to work and tourists exploring the sites rich history, local vendors expect a revival of their livelihoods that were significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many of these small business owners rely heavily on the patronage of government workers during weekdays, as well as tourists who frequent the area. They are hopeful that the resurgence of activity will not only boost sales but also enable them to recover from the economic difficulties faced over the past few years.
The West Bengal government has been promoting the reopening of public spaces and offices as part of its recovery plan, which is further anticipated to encourage the local economy.
