Polavaram Hydro Electric Project Progresses Rapidly
AP-Genco has announced plans to operationalize three of its twelve units, each with a capacity of 80 megawatts (MW), by July 2027. The company aims to fully complete the project by January 2028.
This initiative is part of AP-Gencos broader strategy to enhance power generation capabilities in response to increasing demand for electricity in the region. The 960 MW project, once fully operational, is expected to contribute significantly to the local power supply and support sustainable energy goals.
The development phase is critical as it coincides with efforts to improve infrastructure and reduce energy shortages, particularly in periods of high demand. AP-Genco has not provided specific details about the projects funding or the technologies being implemented, but it is expected to align with contemporary energy standards and environmental regulations. The company will likely conduct regular assessments and updates as the project progresses.
