Naveen Urges Odisha MPs to Support Delimitation Bill with Assurance of State Interests
Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed concerns regarding the treatment of states like Odisha in relation to population control and human development initiatives. He argued that states that have successfully implemented measures in these areas are being disproportionately penalized compared to others that have not made such progress.
Patnaik’s remarks come amid discussions on the allocation of central funds and resources, which he believes should be distributed according to the achievements in population management and human development metrics. He emphasized that states like Odisha have made substantial advances in health, education, and social welfare, and these efforts should be recognized and rewarded rather than overlooked.
In recent years, Odisha has implemented various programs aimed at improving healthcare access, enhancing educational opportunities, and promoting sustainable development. These initiatives have reportedly led to improvements in key indicators such as maternal and child health, literacy rates, and poverty alleviation. Patnaik’s comments highlight the need for a more equitable approach to resource distribution among Indian states, particularly those that have invested heavily in the welfare of their populations.
