TNPCB Issues Show-Cause Notice to Electronics Company Regarding Water Contamination

A recent environmental assessment has revealed elevated levels of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and total dissolved solids (TDS) in samples collected from a rainwater harvesting pond at the facility.

Biochemical oxygen demand and chemical oxygen demand are key indicators of water quality, reflecting the amount of organic matter present and the potential impact on aquatic life. Total dissolved solids encompass a wide range of substances, including salts and other inorganic materials, which can also affect water quality and ecosystem health.

In response, the plants management is expected to conduct further investigations to determine the source of the contamination and assess the appropriate measures to mitigate any potential environmental impact. Continued monitoring of the water quality will be essential to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to protect local ecosystems.

Stakeholders, including environmental regulators and community members, are encouraged to stay informed as additional findings and responses from the facility are released.
