Tender Issued for 124 MW Rooftop Solar Projects in Tamil Nadu Under 25-Year PPA

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has announced the issuance of a tender for the installation of 1.24 megawatts (MW) of rooftop solar projects in Tamil Nadu. This initiative falls under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

The tender aims to promote renewable energy sources in the region, aligning with India’s broader objective of increasing its renewable energy capacity. The selected projects are expected to contribute to the state’s energy needs while also enhancing sustainability efforts.

Rooftop solar installations are part of Indias strategy to significantly increase the share of renewable energy in the overall energy mix. As of October 2023, the Indian government has set an ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by 2030.
