Kerala Government to Establish Marketing and Business Development Division in Agriculture Department, Says Minister Siddique

The Agriculture Minister has announced that instructions have been issued to conduct a comprehensive mapping of all government and privately owned barren land within the state. This initiative aims to identify underutilized land resources that could potentially be converted for agricultural purposes. Following the completion of this mapping process, the governments subsequent objective will be to attain self-sufficiency in food production.

In recent years, many states have been focusing on increasing their agricultural output in response to growing food security concerns and a rising population. By identifying and utilizing barren land, the state aims to enhance agricultural productivity and reduce dependency on food imports. The Minister emphasized the importance of strategic land use planning as essential for ensuring sustainable farming and improving local economies.

Moreover, this initiative aligns with the broader national goals of promoting agricultural development and ensuring food security for all citizens. The state government is expected to collaborate with agricultural experts and local farmers to develop effective strategies for land rehabilitation and cropping systems that will maximize the potential of these identified areas.
