CBSE Chairman and Secretary Transitioned Following OSM Controversy
The Central Government has appointed Lokhande Prashant Sitaram as the new Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He succeeds Rahul Singh, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
In addition to this leadership change, the government has established a one-member committee tasked with investigating the procurement processes for the services associated with CBSE’s Online School Management (OSM) portal. This move is aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in the procurement procedures utilized by the education board.
The CBSE is responsible for overseeing the educational curriculum and examination processes for schools in India, and the appointment of a new chairperson often reflects the governments focus on educational reforms and initiatives. The recent probe into procurement practices highlights ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency and integrity within the boards digital services.
