CBSE Grading Issues Prompt Bengaluru Students to Seek Admission in Karnataka PU Colleges Despite Financial Losses

Concerns regarding evaluation discrepancies in the Central Board of Secondary Educations (CBSE) On-Screen Marking (OSM) system have led to a notable trend in Bengaluru, where many Class 11 students are opting to transfer from CBSE-affiliated schools to Pre-University (PU) colleges in Karnataka.

Parents and students have expressed apprehension that inadequate scores in critical subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, could hinder their chances of securing admission to professional courses. Many such courses consider both board exam results and Common Entrance Test (CET) scores during the selection process. This shift is prompting school administrators to report an increase in student withdrawals, although families are facing financial setbacks due to lost admission fees.

Educators indicate that the current evaluation issues within the CBSE framework are not only impacting immediate admissions but may also have lasting effects on enrollment trends for the upcoming academic year. School officials are closely monitoring the situation, as the credibility of CBSE examinations continues to face scrutiny. As of now, there has been no official response from the CBSE addressing these concerns, which adds to the uncertainty surrounding the evaluation process.
