Centre Steps In to Support Stabilization of Andhra Mango Industry | Overview
Andhra Pradesh is recognized as India’s largest producer of mangoes, contributing significantly to the nation’s agricultural sector. The state cultivates mangoes across approximately 500,000 hectares of land, yielding nearly 4 million tonnes during an average production year.
Mango production in Andhra Pradesh is facilitated by its favorable climate, which is ideal for growing various mango varieties, including the well-known Alphonso, Banganapalli, and Kesar. The state’s mango farming not only supports local farmers but also plays a crucial role in the economy, with many mangoes being exported to international markets.
The government has been actively promoting the mango industry by implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing production techniques, providing financial assistance, and improving marketing channels for farmers. In recent years, efforts have also been made to ensure the quality of mangoes meets global standards, thereby increasing the export potential of Andhra Pradeshs mangoes.
