Char Dham Rail Project: Rishikesh-Karnprayag Line Achieves 41 Tunnel Breakthroughs
The Rishikesh Project Implementation Unit of the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) announced a significant milestone on Friday with the completion of Escape Tunnel 1, which measures 10.847 kilometers in length. This tunnel is noted as the second-longest in the overarching project aimed at enhancing rail connectivity in the region.
The Rishikesh project is part of a larger initiative to improve infrastructure and facilitate better transportation links in Uttarakhand. The completion of Escape Tunnel 1 will play a crucial role in ensuring safety and efficiency in the operation of rail services, especially given the challenging terrain of the area. The project, which is strategically important for both passenger and freight transport, is expected to support economic growth and tourism in the region.
Further developments on the project include additional tunneling and construction work, as RVNL continues to progress towards its overall completion timeline, which is designed to bolster connectivity and accessibility in the northern part of India.
