Concerns Raised by Academics Regarding Internship Component of FYUGP at Calicut University

Senate members of the Congress-aligned Kerala Private College Teachers’ Association have raised concerns regarding the universitys support systems for students seeking internships. They argue that the current mechanisms in place are insufficient to help students secure appropriate and meaningful internship opportunities that align with their academic and career aspirations.

The association emphasized the importance of internships in providing practical experience and enhancing employability for students. They called for the university to implement more effective strategies, including stronger partnerships with industries, improved career counseling services, and dedicated resources to assist students in navigating the internship application process.

This issue comes at a time when many universities are recognizing the growing importance of hands-on experience in education, with employers increasingly looking for graduates who possess relevant work experience alongside their academic qualifications. The association urges the university to take swift action in addressing these gaps to better prepare students for the job market.
