Concerns Raised by Businesses Along Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway Over Proposed Decentralized Tolling System and New Access Points
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to implement a new toll collection system along the 119-kilometer stretch of highway. This initiative will involve the establishment of toll collection points at various entry and exit locations, moving away from the current model that requires vehicles to pay a fixed toll at designated plazas.
This change is part of NHAIs broader strategy aimed at improving the efficiency of toll collection and enhancing traffic flow on national highways. The new system is expected to allow for more flexible and potentially lower toll rates based on the distance traveled, which may benefit frequent road users.
Additionally, NHAI has indicated that the transition to this new system will also incorporate advancements in technology, such as electronic toll collection methods, to streamline the process further and reduce congestion at toll points. The anticipated rollout timeline and specific locations for the new toll collection points have yet to be announced.
