Congress Considers Supporting Vijay in Forming a Secular Government in Tamil Nadu Following Outreach for Assistance
Vijay, a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, is required to resign from one of the two constituencies in which he was elected: Perambur or Tiruchi East. As a result of this resignation, the Tamil Nadu Vanniyar Katchi (TVK) will have 107 MLAs representing them in the Assembly. Consequently, the total strength of the Legislative Assembly will decrease to 233 members.
In order to achieve a majority, the TVK, even with the potential support of the Indian National Congress, would need to secure the backing of at least five additional MLAs. The current political dynamics may influence negotiations and alliances among various parties as they strategize to attain the necessary votes to form a stable government. This situation underscores the ongoing shifts in Tamil Nadus political landscape, particularly in the context of coalition politics.
