Delhi Under Red Alert as Heavy Rain and Lightning Expected

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Delhi, predicting heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning in the region. An orange alert is currently active for the neighboring areas of Noida, Gurgaon, and Ghaziabad. Residents are advised to exercise caution as severe weather conditions are anticipated over the next few days.

The rains come at a time when the city has already faced significant challenges with waterlogging and traffic disruptions. Officials have reported substantial water accumulation on the roads, leading to traffic snarls across the capital. Several flights have also been diverted due to adverse weather conditions, further complicating travel plans.

In response to the challenges posed by the rains, Delhi government officials, including Saurabh Bharadwaj, have criticized the local administration, suggesting that the establishment of water parks for children could be a partial solution to combat waterlogging issues in the city.

The unusual and erratic weather patterns in Delhi, including the recent surge in heat and humidity followed by heavy downpours, have sparked discussions among meteorologists. Experts are examining various factors contributing to these shifts, with climate change being a significant concern.
