Bengaluru’s New Master Plan Preparation Initiated by Deputy Chief Minister

Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, D.K. Shivakumar, has commenced the development of a new master plan for Bengaluru, aimed at addressing the citys escalating growth and urbanization challenges. The initiative seeks to ensure sustainable development and improve infrastructure and public services across the metropolitan area.

The last comprehensive master plan for Bengaluru was implemented in 2007, and since then, the city has experienced rapid population growth, which has led to increased pressure on its infrastructure, transportation, and housing. Acknowledging these challenges, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the need for a timely and well-structured urban planning process.

The new master plan is expected to incorporate inputs from various stakeholders, including urban planners, environmental experts, and the local community. It aims to focus on enhancing livability, reducing traffic congestion, and fostering an eco-friendly approach to urban development.

The government has not yet disclosed a timeline for the completion of the new master plan, but the initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve urban living conditions in Bengaluru, which is known as the Silicon Valley of India and is a hub for technology and innovation.
