Engineer Leaves High-Paying Leadership Position to Pursue Medical Career, Achieves NEET with AIR 1118
Aakriti Goel, an engineer from BITS Pilani, recently made headlines for her remarkable career transition from a leadership position in Bengaluru’s startup sector to pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. Previously earning an annual salary of Rs 30 lakh, Goel opted to leave her successful role to follow her passion for medicine.
After nearly ten years away from the academic environment, Goel dedicated herself to intensive preparation for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate medical courses. Her rigorous study regimen included up to 10 hours of study each day. In 2021, her hard work paid off when she achieved a score of 676 out of 720, earning an All India Rank (AIR) of 1118.
Now in her final year of MBBS at Hindu Rao Medical College, Goel’s journey exemplifies the principles of determination and the possibility of reinventing one’s career at any stage in life. Her story serves as an inspiration to others considering significant career changes, suggesting that with dedication and a clear goal, it is indeed possible to pursue ones dreams, regardless of past professional commitments.
