Final preparations completed for ₹12,642 crore VB-G RAM G project implementation in Tamil Nadu starting July 1

Implementation of ₹12,642-Crore VB-GRAM G Scheme to Commence in Tamil Nadu

Starting July 1, 2026, Tamil Nadu is set to implement the ₹12,642-crore VB-GRAM G scheme, a rural employment initiative aimed at enhancing job security in rural areas. The schemes primary objective is to ensure that no eligible rural worker experiences unemployment for even a single day.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized the significance of this employment program, stating that it reflects the governments commitment to bolster rural livelihoods. Under the VB-GRAM G framework, a national daily wage of ₹300 will be established, providing a stable income for rural workers engaged in various employment opportunities.

The scheme is designed to create sustainable employment through infrastructure development and various community projects, thereby addressing both economic and social dimensions in rural settings. In tandem, the West Bengal government has also launched a similar RAM-G scheme aimed at reviving rural employment.

In a related development, various stakeholders have raised concerns regarding the implementation rules of the VB-GRAM G scheme. Politician Brinda Karat has urged the government to revise these rules, highlighting potential shortcomings that could impede the success of this initiative.

As the launch date approaches, further discussions are expected to take place among government officials, stakeholders, and community representatives to ensure the execution of the scheme is effective and beneficial for rural populations across Tamil Nadu.
