Food Delivery Service Launch Expected Within a Month

Emerging Competitors to Zomato and Swiggy: Pilot Launch in Bengaluru with Separate App and ONDC

A new competitor is gearing up to enter the food delivery market, challenging the dominance of established players Zomato and Swiggy. A pilot project is anticipated to launch in Bengaluru, one of India’s major urban centers known for its tech-savvy population and diverse food culture.

The upcoming service is expected to be delivered through a separate app, designed to provide users with a seamless experience while ordering food. The initiative aligns with the goals of the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), which aims to create an inclusive and unified platform for online commerce, including food delivery. ONDC is an initiative backed by the Government of India, intended to facilitate greater choice for consumers and empower small businesses by reducing reliance on traditional delivery giants.

As part of the pilot phase, the new service will initially focus on areas within Bengaluru to test its operational capabilities and gather feedback from users. If successful, the service may expand to other metropolitan areas across the country.

The growing competition in the food delivery sector is expected to intensify as new players strive to differentiate themselves through innovative technology and improved customer service. Industry experts believe that the introduction of alternative platforms could lead to increased competition, potentially resulting in better prices and more options for consumers.

This move comes at a time when online food delivery services are gaining significant traction in India, with millions of users turning to digital platforms for their meal needs, further expanding the market potential for new entrants.
