The Ministry of External Affairs has announced that Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi will engage in a comprehensive review of bilateral relations between India and Indonesia. This review will encompass a wide range of cooperative efforts, including defence, security, maritime collaboration, trade, and investment.

This meeting highlights the growing partnership between the two nations, which has been further strengthened by recent developments in regional security and economic initiatives. Both countries are part of various multilateral forums, including the ASEAN and G20, which aim to enhance their collaborative efforts in addressing common challenges. The discussions will also seek to bolster trade ties, as both nations aim to increase their bilateral trade volume, which has seen significant growth in recent years.

Minister Jaishankars visit underlines Indias commitment to deepening its relations with Southeast Asian countries, reflecting its strategic interest in the region. The outcome of these discussions could also pave the way for enhanced military cooperation and joint exercises in maritime security, given the strategic importance of the Indo-Pacific region.
