In the latest Hurun India Rich List for 2026, industrialist Gautam Adani has regained his status as the wealthiest individual in India, overtaking rival Mukesh Ambani. The published list shows significant fluctuations in wealth among Indias elite, with Adanis net worth growing substantially due to his investments in the infrastructure and energy sectors.

According to the report, Adani’s wealth is approximately ₹1.05 lakh crore (around $12.6 billion), which places him ahead of Ambani, whose net worth has been reported at ₹1.1 lakh crore ($13.2 billion). This status shift reflects broader industry trends in which the financial services sector saw the addition of 28 new billionaires this year, collectively amassing a wealth of ₹1.02 lakh crore ($12 billion).

The Hurun report highlights that despite overall economic challenges, including a depreciation of the Indian rupee impacting numerous billionaires, there are 168 individuals in the list whose wealth has been affected negatively but still remain amongst Indias richest. The report also features 27 new entrants to the billionaire ranks, marking a continued rise in wealth concentration.

New notable figures include Renuka Jagtiani of Landmark Group and Vivek Ranadive, owner of the Sacramento Kings, showcasing the growth of wealth across diverse sectors, ranging from retail to entertainment.
