IMD Issues Orange Alerts for Kerala Due to Anticipated Heavy Rainfall as Monsoon Approaches by June 4
An orange alert has been issued for Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts in northern Kerala for Tuesday, indicating a high likelihood of severe weather conditions. This alert signifies the potential for heavy rainfall, which may lead to flooding and other associated hazards.
Additionally, a yellow alert has been declared for the remaining 11 districts in the state, signaling a watch for significant rainfall but at a lesser intensity. Yellow alerts typically suggest that residents should remain vigilant and be prepared for possible adverse weather effects.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised citizens to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts. Emergency services and local authorities are on standby to respond to any emergencies that may arise due to the anticipated heavy rainfall. Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to secure loose items and avoid low-lying areas that are prone to flooding.
