Indian-Origin Shrey Parikh Wins US Spelling Bee with Correct Spelling of Word

Indian-origin student Shrey Parikh emerged victorious at the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee competition, held recently in the United States. Parikh clinched the title by correctly spelling the word “*koinonia*,” a term that signifies a Christian fellowship or community, during an intense spell-off.

The Scripps National Spelling Bee, which has been a staple of American culture since its inception in 1925, brought together over 200 contestants from various backgrounds, showcasing their spelling prowess. This years event was held in a hybrid format, accommodating both in-person and virtual participants due to lingering public health considerations.

Parikh, a participant from Dallas, Texas, previously excelled in local and regional spelling competitions.
