IndiGo Reports Rs 2,537 Crore Loss in Q4 Amid Rupee Depreciation and Operational Disruptions
IndiGo, Indias largest airline, has reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 2,536.9 crore for the quarter ending in March 2023. This marks a notable decline from the profit of Rs 3,067.5 crore recorded during the same period last year.
The airlines financial performance in the recent quarter was adversely affected by a significant depreciation of the Indian rupee and a challenging operational landscape. Despite these difficulties, IndiGo saw an increase in total income, reflecting strong demand for air travel within the country.
The company cited rising fuel prices and inflationary pressures as key factors contributing to the unfavorable conditions. As part of its strategy to navigate these challenges, IndiGo is expected to continue enhancing its operational efficiencies and expanding its route network. Additionally, the airlines management remains optimistic about recovery in passenger traffic as travel demand continues to rebound post-pandemic.
