Indira Canteen Leads Budget Proposals in Kochi
A delegation led by the mayor has presented a comprehensive wish list of 12 projects to the government, aiming to enhance local infrastructure and community services. Notable proposals include continued support for the Indira Canteen initiative, which provides subsidized meals to those in need, and the establishment of a 190 Million Liters per Day (MLD) drinking water treatment plant to improve water supply and quality for residents.
Additionally, the delegation has highlighted the need for significant road development projects and the construction of Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) to facilitate smoother traffic flow and enhance safety. Another key initiative included in the proposal is the Vembanad Lake Rejuvenation Mission, aimed at restoring the health and ecological balance of one of the largest lakes in India, which plays a crucial role in the regions biodiversity and economy.
These projects, if approved, could significantly impact the local community by improving public services, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability. The mayor has urged the government to consider the list as a priority for improving the quality of life for residents in the area.
