Investment of ₹1 lakh crore Planned for Aerospace and Defence Sector in Andhra Pradesh

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is set to establish a major defence manufacturing facility on a 350-acre site in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. This facility is anticipated to become one of the largest aerospace and defence research hubs in India.

The initiative aligns with the Indian governments broader strategy to enhance indigenous defence production and reduce reliance on foreign imports. The facility is expected to focus on the development and manufacturing of advanced aerospace technologies, defense systems, and various military equipment.

Once operational, the Puttaparthi facility could significantly contribute to job creation in the region and bolster local economies. It may also play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration between industry, academia, and government entities in defense research and innovation. As India continues to prioritize self-reliance in defense, the establishment of such hubs is viewed as a critical step in meeting the country’s strategic defense needs.
