Karnataka Expands Free Bus Pass Program to Benefit Students Studying Outside the State
The State Transport Department has announced an extension of free bus travel passes to male students, allowing both boys and girls to ride at no cost on buses operated by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Kalaburagi City Bus Transport Services (KKRTC), North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).
This initiative aims to promote accessibility to education by easing transportation costs for students. Previously, free bus travel was available only to female students, and the expansion of the program to include male students signifies a step towards equitable service.
The implementation of these free travel passes is expected to benefit thousands of students across the state, making it easier for them to attend school or college without the burden of transportation fees. This move may also encourage higher attendance rates and support educational initiatives within the region.
