Karnataka Initiates CET Counselling Ahead of NEET Admissions Following Paper Leak Disruptions

Karnataka has announced its decision to separate the counseling processes for the Common Entrance Test (CET) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). This change is largely a response to the delayed schedule of NEET counseling, which has been impacted by a recent paper leak controversy. By prioritizing engineering admissions, the state government aims to facilitate thousands of engineering aspirants in pursuing their educational goals without further disruptions.

In a bid to provide flexibility, students who wish to switch from engineering to medical courses will be allowed to do so without facing any penalties. Additionally, a full refund of fees will be offered to those opting for medical admissions. This initiative is intended to alleviate concerns among parents and students during a period of national admission uncertainties.

The CET is a state-level entrance examination for various undergraduate courses in engineering, agricultural, and pharmacy programs, while NEET is the national standard for medical admissions.
