Kerala Cabinet Establishes Subcommittee to Examine PM SHRI Implementation; Chief Minister Indicates Continued Commitment to the Scheme

In a recent statement, Keralas Leader of the Opposition, V. D. Satheesan, asserted that the former Left Democratic Front (LDF) government had entered into a formal agreement with the central government and had received financial support. This claim comes amidst discussions about the PM SHRI (Prime Ministers School for Rising India) initiative, which aims to enhance the quality of school education across the country.

Former Education Minister V. Sivankutty, representing the LDF, acknowledged that the previous government signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the PM SHRI scheme after the central government withheld a portion of the states entitlement under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, a central initiative designed to improve school education.

Sivankutty further criticized the previous government for failing to take the necessary actions to implement the PM SHRI scheme effectively. The controversy highlights ongoing tensions between the LDF and the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) regarding education funding and administration in the state. It also raises questions about accountability and transparency in the implementation of central educational initiatives at the state level.

As the debate continues, stakeholders in Keralas education sector are keenly observing how these developments will impact the states funding and educational policies moving forward. The PM SHRI scheme is particularly significant as it aligns with the central governments goal to transform school education and deliver quality learning outcomes for students across the nation.
