Lokesh Advocates for 33% Women Representation in TDP Seats for 2029 Elections During Mahanadu Event
The national working president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has announced that the party will implement a 33% reservation for women within its own ranks, independent of the passage of the Womens Reservation Bill. This commitment was made during a proposal presented at the Mahanadu event near Mangalagiri.
The Womens Reservation Bill, which aims to reserve one-third of the seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies for women, has been a subject of debate and discussion in Indian politics. Despite various parties historically supporting the bill, it has yet to be enacted into law.
The TDPs initiative reflects a growing emphasis on womens representation in politics, especially in light of ongoing discussions about gender equality and empowerment in India. By proactively establishing a quota for women, the TDP aims to enhance female participation in governance and leadership roles within the party. This move may also influence similar initiatives among other political parties as they prepare for future elections.
