National Workshop on Student Wellness Held at IIT Madras in Collaboration with Education Ministry
IIT Madras recently organized a two-day regional workshop focused on student wellness, in collaboration with the Ministry of Educations Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme. The event attracted over 200 faculty members and student support professionals from various institutions across South India.
The workshop served as a platform for participants to engage in discussions on a range of topics related to student wellness, including effective mentoring, counseling techniques, preventive mental health strategies, and the establishment of institutional support systems. The goal is to develop practical approaches to enhance student well-being in educational environments.
In addition, IIT Madras announced that it has become the first Centrally Funded Technical Institute in India to achieve ISO 45001:2018 certification for its Wellness Centre. This certification reinforces the institutes commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for its students and staff.
The Malaviya Mission, named after the prominent educationist Madan Mohan Malaviya, aims to improve the quality of teacher training in India, with a focus on holistic development and student welfare.
