NCRB Report: Increase in Crimes Against Elders; Bengaluru Reports Second Highest Incidence of Crimes Against Women
Bengaluru has reported a crime rate of 117 incidents per lakh (100,000) residents, indicating a significant rise compared to other major Indian cities. In contrast, Mumbai has recorded a crime rate of 74.6 per lakh, while Chennais rate is notably lower at 25.4 per lakh.
This disparity in crime rates among these metropolitan areas may be attributed to various factors, including population density, socio-economic conditions, local law enforcement practices, and urban infrastructure. Bengaluru, known as Indias tech hub, has experienced rapid population growth and urbanization, which can contribute to increasing crime rates.
Authorities and local government are expected to address these statistics by implementing various crime prevention measures and community engagement initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety in the city.
