Newly Discovered Worm-Eating Snake Honors Mizoram Herpetologist

In 2007, one of the two known specimens of the Trachischium lalremsangai was discovered in neighboring Myanmar. This species, which belongs to the family Trachischiidae, is notable for its unique morphological characteristics and was first described in scholarly literature shortly after its discovery. The other specimen was found later, contributing to the understanding of this species distribution and habitat preferences. Ongoing research is aimed at assessing its conservation status and ecological role in its natural environment.
