Nitin Gadkari Opens Barrier-Free Mundka-Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Urban Extension Road-II

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced plans to expand its Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system, targeting 17 fee plazas across nine states. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of toll collection and reduce traffic congestion at toll booths. The projected rollout is set to be completed by September 2026.

The MLFF system is designed to facilitate seamless vehicular movement by allowing vehicles to pass through toll plazas without stopping, thus minimizing delays. Instead of traditional manual toll collection, this system employs advanced technology, such as automatic number plate recognition and toll tags, to ensure timely billing.

The states involved in this expansion include Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, and Karnataka. This initiative is part of the NHAIs broader strategy to modernize highway infrastructure and improve the overall travel experience for commuters.

This expansion aligns with Indias efforts to enhance road safety and reduce travel times on national highways, addressing the increasing volume of traffic as the country continues to develop its road network.
