Onion Farmers Request ₹10,000 Crore Revival Package and Stable Export Policy from Government

Bharat Dighole, the founder and president of the Maharashtra State Onion Growers Farmers Association, has raised concerns regarding the substantial financial losses experienced by onion farmers in the region. Dighole attributes these losses to various systemic issues, including ineffective export policies, the use of counterfeit seeds, inadequate storage facilities, and other contributing factors.

Over the years, these challenges have compounded, impacting the livelihood of farmers and the overall sustainability of the onion farming sector in Maharashtra, which is one of the largest onion-producing states in India. The association is advocating for policy reforms aimed at enhancing export opportunities, improving seed quality control, and boosting storage infrastructure to mitigate losses and support farmers economic viability.

In addition, the Maharashtra government and agricultural experts are under increasing pressure to address these concerns and work towards solutions that will protect farmers interests and ensure a stable supply of onions in both domestic and international markets.
