Opposition LDF Stages Walkout in Assembly Citing Governments Inability to Manage Disease Outbreak
Keralas Health Minister, Veena George, has criticized the previous Left Democratic Front (LDF) government for its inadequate measures in disease prevention, particularly concerning sanitation and cleanliness initiatives during their tenure earlier in the year. Minister George emphasized that effective disease control relies heavily on proactive cleaning activities and public health strategies.
The LDF government, which was in power until May 2021, faced scrutiny for its management of public health issues, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and monsoon-related diseases that typically surge during the rainy season. The current administration is now implementing new programs aimed at improving public health infrastructure, enhancing sanitation efforts, and increasing community awareness about disease prevention to ensure a healthier environment for residents.
Additionally, the state has introduced various health camps focusing on preventative care and is working to strengthen the healthcare system to mitigate future outbreaks of infectious diseases.
