Railway Tracks Designed for 130 km/h Increase Fivefold Over 12 Years, Punctuality Stands at 77%

The Ministry of Railways has released new data indicating that approximately 54,600 kilometers of railway tracks have been renewed between 2014 and February 2026. The track renewal and upgrading initiatives were undertaken based on several critical factors, including the age of the tracks, the volume of traffic they bear, and their overall condition.

These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of the railway network. Track renewal is essential for minimizing maintenance costs and improving train speeds, ultimately contributing to better services for passengers and freight operators alike. The Ministry aims to continue its investment in railway infrastructure to meet the growing transportation demands in the country.

In addition to track renewal, the Ministry has indicated ongoing improvements in signaling systems, modernization of railway stations, and the introduction of new rolling stock as part of its comprehensive infrastructure plan.
