Request for Permanent TET Exemption for In-Service Teachers in Andhra Pradesh

Leaders of the Forum of Registered Teacher Organisations have formally submitted representations to Members of Parliament, advocating for amendments to the Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009. The forum is specifically requesting the establishment of a permanent exemption for certain provisions within the Act.

The RTE Act, enacted to ensure free and compulsory education for children aged 6 to 14, has been a central component of India’s education policy since its introduction. However, the forum argues that certain constraints imposed by the Act hinder their ability to effectively manage educational institutions.

In their representations, the leaders highlighted how a permanent exemption could foster greater flexibility in operational practices, potentially improving educational outcomes. They also noted that this request follows ongoing discussions regarding the challenges faced by teachers and educational institutions under the current regulatory framework.

This initiative arrives amid broader discussions on educational reforms in India, as policymakers continue to explore ways to enhance the quality and accessibility of education. The Forum of Registered Teacher Organisations represents a coalition of teacher associations, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach to address the complexities of the education system.
