Sebi, NISM, and IICA Formalize MoU to Enhance Capital Markets with Emphasis on Governance and ESG Principles
The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) and the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) have formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing corporate governance, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks, and the overall integrity of Indias capital markets.
This strategic partnership will prioritize capacity building, comprehensive research, and specialized training initiatives designed to promote a more transparent financial ecosystem across the country. Notably, the collaboration will include tailored programs for officials from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), focusing on improving regulatory practices and compliance. Additionally, the initiative seeks to facilitate improved access to capital for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), thereby supporting their growth and integration into the formal economy.
The MoU reflects the growing emphasis on sustainable finance and responsible corporate practices in India, aligning with global trends towards transparency and accountability in business operations. Through these efforts, NISM and IICA aim to contribute to the strengthening of investor confidence and the resilience of Indias financial markets.
