State Plans to Revitalize Inactive Lift Irrigation Projects, According to Rama Naidu
The Minister recently inaugurated the restoration works for the Vedadri-Kanchala Lift Irrigation Scheme, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing water management systems across the region. As part of this initiative, an allocation of ₹4,500 crore has been designated for the repair and maintenance of various lift irrigation schemes throughout the state.
This funding aims to improve the efficiency and reliability of irrigation infrastructure, which is vital for agricultural productivity, especially in areas that rely heavily on these systems for water supply. It is expected that the restoration efforts will not only benefit local farmers by ensuring a stable water supply for their crops but also address any existing inefficiencies within the irrigation framework.
The Vedadri-Kanchala Lift Irrigation Scheme serves to divert water from the Krishna River, facilitating irrigation across several districts. The renovations undertaken are part of a broader effort by the state government to modernize outdated irrigation systems and adapt them to the challenges posed by changing climate conditions and increasing agricultural demands.
