Water Metro Service in Mumbai Metropolitan Region Expected by 2028, Says Nitesh Rane

At The Hindu’s ‘Maharashtra Infrastructure Conclave 2026’, the Maharashtra Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development highlighted the significant advancements achieved in the states maritime sector. During his address, he detailed ongoing projects, including the development of new ports, improvements in existing port infrastructure, and initiatives aimed at boosting fisheries productivity.

The minister emphasized that these developments are part of Maharashtras broader strategy to enhance trade and economic growth by leveraging its extensive coastline of approximately 720 kilometers. He also pointed out the importance of sustainable fishing practices and the state governments commitment to environmental regulations to ensure the longevity of marine resources.

Additionally, the minister discussed collaboration with private stakeholders to facilitate investments in port modernization and maritime infrastructure, which are expected to create job opportunities and stimulate local economies. The state is also exploring advancements in technology to improve logistics and supply chain efficiency within the maritime sector. This comprehensive approach aims to position Maharashtra as a leading hub for maritime trade in India.
