Telangana Chief Minister Launches 553 Buses for Self-Help Groups

Telangana Congress President Revanth Reddy has officially inaugurated a fleet of 553 buses designated for self-help groups (SHGs) in the state. During the launch event, Reddy emphasized the significant contributions of women in public leadership roles, highlighting their successes as ministers, mayors, municipal chairpersons, and heads of various corporations.

Reddy noted that with the recent implementation of a 33% reservation policy for women in governance, there is a strong potential for increased female representation and influence in decision-making processes. This initiative aims to empower women further and enhance their participation in both local and state governance.

Self-help groups have long played a crucial role in promoting economic development and social empowerment, particularly for women in rural and semi-urban areas. The introduction of these buses is intended to facilitate better mobility for these groups, enabling them to engage more actively in community activities and economic opportunities.

The 33% reservation for women in local governance aims to stimulate gender equity and ensure that womens voices are adequately represented in policymaking. This policy aligns with wider national efforts to promote womens rights and participation in public life.
